Puerto Rico

I was in PR for a friend's wedding last week. We were so busy getting ready for the wedding that I didn't have much time to read the books I bought. I did get a chance to get some photos though.

Puerto Rico has so many great plants growing. We took these flowers from our backyard and made the centerpieces for the rehearsal dinner. All the flowers were just cut from a plant that happened to be growing. Fantastic!

Wedding photos at Ruins Beach. Can you believe this is 5 minutes from an airport? I had never been to this beach before, the combination of the water and the brick and stone buildings is amazing! Although I left most of the picture taking to the photographer that had been hired for the wedding photos, I couldn't help but take a few pictures. We only had about an hour, though, before having to rush back for the ceremony.

The day after the wedding we did some much needed relaxing. A friend was in a surf contest that day so we hung out at the beach to watch her compete. Couldn't help but snap a picture of this little girl on the beach, the epitome of a beach day.

School's out!

I just finished my last exam for the semester! So with my new-found freedom I went to the bookstore and picked up a couple of books. National Geographic Photography Field Guide, The Photography Bible, Life Photography: What They Saw. I am going out of town this week so I will have plenty to read on the plane and hopefully to put into use.

epiphany

I am new to blogging and new to taking pictures and I feel like I need some structure and direction to get the most out of both. I was taking my dogs for a much needed walk (my poor dogs do not get out often enough!) and I came up with a project that I am really excited about. I am obsessed with sunsets. Left to my own devices I would probably take pictures of sunsets and nothing more. So to curb this tendency I am going to take a month to fully indulge my obsession so that I can move on to something else next month. Here is the start of my first collection of the month.

Introduction

True to form, I decided to start blogging in the middle of studying for exams. For now, this is all I have. School will be over soon so hopefully I will be going on adventures and generating stories to share.
